Monster High Dolls And Monster High School Gifts

Mattel has released Monster High dolls so you or your child can have your own dress up version of your favorite Monster High School characters.

The dolls were released in the Summer of 2010 and they have sold out quickly. Right now, none are available at WalMart.com and I was only able to find them in stock through Amazon.com. It is likely that stock will be replenished soon at other stores, but I am not sure you could count on finding them at a brick and mortar store for some time without special ordering.

First, if you really want a doll, you will be able to find one. Although you may not be happy with the price of your favorite character, consider starting on your collection with one of the Monster High dolls in stock at Amazon right now for a lower price, and in the future, when stock is replenished you can get your favorite characters at their list price.

A lot of other Monster High gifts are running low on stock and that is likely because the size of the fan base was drastically underestimated when orders went through on these toys, and not enough were made for all the kids who want them to get them. The cartoon was only released six months before the Holiday season, so this explanation is likely the reason why the dolls are hard to find at their original prices.

If you or your kids are into Monster High, you know that these are some really unique characters and the toys and accessories they are selling for the show are just as unique. These dolls are very different from Barbie and much more fun.

The female dolls are ten and a half inches tall and have soft, brushable hair, while the male dolls are eleven inches tall and have molded plastic hair that is a part of their heads. Since each character is very different from the others, they each have their own special head molds and special attributes such as wolf ears and fangs.

The thing about these dolls is that they are meant for older kids who aren't going to play roughly with them. If you read the reviews at Amazon, you will find some complaints about the construction of the limbs, which have been made to easily disconnect for costume changes. If you feel like these dolls may not be a good investment for your child, read further to find out about other gifts for your Monster High fan.

More affordable, more durable, and more fun to play with, the doll and pet sets are for those that aren't into changing costumes and posing hard dolls. They are also a very cool, yet cuddly addition to a kid's bedroom.

For options other than dolls, especially if the stock on Monster High dolls continues to run low, there are a number of different toys and accessories for the different ages of Monster High School fans that continue to have plenty of stock available.

The Monster High young adult book would be a great purchase to get kids reading. The only negative reviews appear to be from adults who were looking for a more adult story, having been a little thrown off by the Monster theme. It's important to note that the plotline of the book is different from the plotline of the cartoon, which may disappoint fans at first, but the characters still have the same personalities. I discuss the story further below.

I know costumes are usually meant for Halloween, but I sure do miss seeing children play actively and imaginatively as opposed to playing video games and just watching the television. What I love about Monster High is that the cartoon videos are just one part of the playing experience, and there is so much room for the viewers and readers to think creatively. Costumes make for a great opportunity for kids to engage in role playing activities.

You may be wondering about the the story behind Monster High so you can determine whether or not it is suitable for your child. In the novel written by Lisi Harrison, the main character, Frankie Stein is sent to a normal high school by her parents to help her assimilate with non-monster teenagers, or normies. Trying to fit in isn't easy when you look a little green and have bolts sticking out of your neck, but she actually finds other monster teens to hang out with.

The cartoon episodes have the same monster characters, only Monster High School is actually full of monsters in all aspects -- students, teachers and staff. And the monsters don't have to try to blend in with normies.

Together, they do all the teeny stuff like listening to hot music and crushing on boys, however the story has way more appropriate content for pre-teens than other popular monster and vampire novels out there. The whole plotline of both the book and cartoon is something parents can feel more comfortable with their younger children following than something like Twilight, depending on their age of course.

Monster High School videos are only available on Monster High's YouTube channel or through the Monster High website. They are even available in español at the MonsterHighSpain YouTube Channel. The episodes began in May 2010.

Technically, a number of specialty retailers do have some stock of the main ghoul dolls you are probably looking for, they are just selling them marked up. There is, however, no regular priced stock of these favorites through Amazon, Walmart, Target and similar big stores. I do not expect us to see the first wave of Monster High dolls again, at least not this year. They are no longer shipping from Mattel, although because they became so popular, they could be re-issued later . . . The 2-packs of DG and Cleo are still available and should be for a while . . . The Gloom Beach doll assortment will be the next release.
